5. Original Building: Extra Information (historical buildings only)

This section is for historical buildings, and deals with the dismantling and translocation process. Here the in situ preservation process is recorded at the time of dismantling, and includes information about who did the documentation and what building parts were dismantled. This information is mainly of interest for specialists and researchers.

Things to prepare beforehand:

Who dismantled the building and when?
What was left behind / not translocated?
Digital versions of the documentation of the process, plans and photos.

Components which were not translocated

Preservation in situ can be important because there may be some elements that are damaged and cannot be transported to the museum. You probably take notes about these, like about the dimensions, materials, techniques. When building up again in the museum, these are replaced with reconstructed parts. For example the roof covering is almost always new. You can add up to 10 components.
