RETOLD

Key aspects of RETOLD

The RETOLD system is designed to serve the unique needs of archaeological and ethnographic open-air museums, which not only house collections, but also produce knowledge in other ways: through buildings, experimental reconstructions, craft experiments and demonstrations.

The RETOLD system aims to help museums capture this rich and varied data in a structured but easy way. It currently has three key aspects. With a tool a crafter can perform his craft in or around a building, which is located in a museum. The story which can be told depends on the public, the information can be shared internally with the staff, or with other museums. Well-structured documentation in words, images and sounds, even artefacts, will form the backbone which supports the preservation of the data and stories.
