About the RETOLD project

RETOLD is the result of an EU cooperation project (2020-2024). The drive of the six partners in that project was to develop something to retain the stories which are presented in open-air museums. One reason to structure the information and stories is the generation shift: a lot of it is in the heads of our personnel, and when they leave, we lose a lot. 

In the Retold project we had six partners: EXARC Coordinator; Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona (ES), Complexul National Muzeal ASTRA (RO), Steinzeitpark Dithmarschen (DE), Nüwa Digital Media Content Production Studios Ltd (IE) and Museumsdorf Düppel (DE). 

We soon realised there are several advantages of taking a digital approach but our biggest challenge was to bridge between the museums and the technical colleagues. These are truly different worlds, who learned to appreciate each other on the way. In the RETOLD project, we advanced a good bit, but the cooperation continues, albeit in a bit different constellation.
