Keltendorf am Steinerbichl (ZE) (AT)
In 1962, when the main water line of Uttendorf was being moved, a field with Hallstatt graves was discovered and researched by the University of Salzburg soon followed by traces of a settlement at Steinerbichl.
Combine this with traces of nearby trade routes and copper mining and you have a very interesting series of archaeological information.
In the year 2001, one started to construct a Celtic Village. Traces of connections with North Italy, Slovenia et cetera are pointed out here. The village is an active experience area with possibilities for using simple tools and artefacts. The way of working and living of the Celts of the region is being demonstrated here, showing what could be the origins of the local culture. Guided tours explain about the customs, rituals and mythology of the Celts.
