Ötzidorf Umhausen (Tirol) (AT)
The Ötztal Association of prehistoric buildings and local history in Umhausen has built the “Ötzi village”, an archaeological open air park meant to illustrate how life might have been in the days Ötzi walked through the Alp Region.
The Association has received advice from Dr Leitner, from the Institute of Archaeology of the University of Innsbruck. There are several Neolithic and Copper Age dwellings people can visit, fitted with costumes like they could have been those days and occasionally some craftspeople working with ancient techniques. There are about 30 places where something is done, told or shown, part of which are the original film set of the film “der Ötztalmann und seine Welt”. Occasionaly, survival training takes place here as well just like ritual celebrations and lectures.
