In the 1st century AD, Cambodunum, situated at present day Kempten, was the administrative centre of the province Rhaetia before this changed to Augusta Vindelicum, present day Augsburg.

In 1982, in the local fenlands of Peterborough, wooden timbers were accidentally brought to light. It was the time of the heavy draining of these areas. An archaeological team, lead by Francis Pryor discovered they belonged to a post alignment dating back to the Bronze Age, leading into the fens for over 1 kilometre.

In the foothills of the Orlické mountains, the association Villa Nova started constructing an archaeological open air museum in 1993. There are a few houses, a smithy, a pottery workshop, kilns, a tar extracting site, all based on archaeological sites in the region, dating to the 13th and 14th century.

Celtic Harmony Camp is a reconstructed Iron Age settlement and education centre providing natural & cultural heritage education. Hands-on activities and events based on Britain's Celtic culture promote a more sustainable way of life in harmony with the natural world.

Ekehagen´s Prehistoric Village lies nearby the river Ätran in a beautiful countryside with birches and oak trees, approximately twelve miles, 20 kilometres, south of Falköping in the province of Västergötland. It is an archaeological open-air museum with presentations from various prehistoric periods.

In 1996, two enthusiasts got the initiative to start a Viking village at the site where previously 199 Iron Age / Viking Age (800-1000 AD) burial mounds were discovered. They soon started cooperation with two local association: the “Aquila Maritimus forn- och medeltidsförening” and the “Roslagens turistintressenter”.

The Goal of the Ancient Technology Centre is to engage people of all ages in the daily life of our ancestors and to increase their understanding of the skills, resources and strategies available to them.
