Le Musée des Tumulus de Bougon (FR)
As early as 1840, Neolithic grave mounds or tumuli were excavated near Bougon leading to what at present is a museum about life and death in the Neolithic Age and beyond. The museum is built around the remains of an old monastery but has a modern look and interior.

Just outside the building, on the way towards the original archaeological grave mounds or tumuli, two longhouses are constructed the way they might have looked like in Stone Age. One of them is 44 metres long. The park like setting for these buildings also gives room to a botanical garden.
The museum frequently offers new exhibitions, demonstrations and workshops, both indoor and outdoor. Experiments are executed here on a regular base.
