Navan Center - Emain Macha (UK)
The important archaeological site, in Northern Ireland, which yielded traces of consistent occupation since prehistory, was threatened by the expansion of a nearby limestone quarry.
Luckily, the quarrying stopped and the site was elected to be preserved and divulged for its outstanding heritage. Within walking distance from the site, The Navan Center hosts an exhibition on the site and displays a (re)construction of a roundhouse; live interpreters give an insight about life in the iron age. The interpretation of the site is also enriched with the legends and folklore of the area and information on ritual activities are also provided.
The visitor centre hosts a large restaurant and gives the opportunity to organize private events on its premises.
A remarkable list of children activities is also available.
