Valsgaard (DE)
In northern Germany, a viking village illustrating life from 700 - 1100 AD was (re)constructed and fully equipped.
Valsgaard is a farmstead and is located near a burial Viking site with 13 urn graves. With the help of the local municipality and the EU the association who runs the place was able to (re)construct different buildings pertaining to the viking age as well as devote part of the area to a vegetable garden and dyeing plans and ancient crops growing. The association provides guided tours of the farm and offers different services for educational and entertainment purposes. A yearly based event, the Open Thor, gives the opportunity to get in contact with the association, and a festival at the end of august brings the visitors back in time with a viking market and the re-enactment of the viking battle of Wallsbüll.
